9/8/15 Update
Hello, First Grade Families!
I hope you had a great holiday weekend!
Here are a few notes for the week:
Stuffed Animal Reward Party: Have your student bring in a favorite stuffed animal friend tomorrow as a reward for filling our Warm Fuzzy jar last week!
Devices: I have had a few questions regarding students bringing their device to school as part of BYOD regarding what apps to download. This is the first week that we have incorporated devices in our stations and I am still learning about and discussing with the other first grade teachers the best apps to be using. When I have a more solid list, I will post these apps on our website and you can choose to download them onto your child’s device for extra practice at home or for them to use at school.
Virtual Show and Tell: I heard about some of the great adventures the students had over Labor Day weekend! I am going to set up a “Virtual Show and Tell” page on our website so if your child does something they are excited about over the weekend or after school, feel free to e-mail a picture and description about the activity to me and I can share it on our site!
Leader of the Week: This week I made an example poster for our “Leader of the Week” board. Beginning next week, a student will be assigned as the Leader and can create their own poster to share! I will post my example on the website this evening as well information you may want to include on the poster. I will also post our Leader schedule in this section tomorrow.
Reading Minutes: Today I sent home our reading log light bulb sheet. Have your child read independently, read to someone, or be read to for at least 10 minutes each night and have them fill in the light bulb for each ten minutes they read. Please initial the lightbulb after they have done their reading.

8/26/15 Leadership Binder Cover Examples:
Here are pictures I found of kids' collage examples. Your child's binder cover may be in a similar format if they need ideas- cutting out pictures of things that reflect their interests from magazines or personal photos, they may draw to decorate the cover, etc. Just be sure that their first name is visible on the binder.
