Our hearts were full this Valentine's day! We got to see our fourth grade buddies to talk about how to be a good friend, we did math using Sweethearts, and had a ton of fun at our party!
Can you believe we are already 100 days smarter in first grade?? We celebrated with 100th day math stations and writing a bucket list of things to do before we are 100. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to snap a picture of our awesome 100 cup tower before it fell! It was pretty tall though! We may have some future architects in this classroom.
Last week was our hot chocolate reward party! It was so fun to listen to books from Storyline Online and sip our hot chocolate! We are already filling our Fuzzy jar up again!
Thursday was so much fun! Thank you to every one for bringing in donations and helping at the winter party! It was a blast making ornaments, decorating cookies, and playing games! Have a wonderful winter break! See you in 2016!
On Monday the kids noticed something crazy happening in the classroom... There was an elf on the window! He had hung up snowflakes on the ceiling and left us a note explaining his job.
He talked about how some students might have an elf at home and some might not, like Miss Godfrey, but Norman (the name we voted on), is a little different because he is with us to learn! Apparently his school is on break this time of year because elves are busy. He got so bored and wanted to find a classroom to learn in and meet new friends! How lucky are we that he chose us? We have to remember to work hard and use listening ears so that Norman can hear what is going on and can learn before he goes back! We haven't really talked about if he reports anything to anyone about being naughty or nice... So if that is something that you think he does, let your child know! On Friday there was lots of wacky hair to support our Helping Hands campaign. Loved seeing all the colors, spikes, and smiles! Last week we had two mystery readers! Jackson's mom stopped by to read us The Little Kids' Table and There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie! Then on Tuesday, Ms. Godfrey's sister surprised us to read Thank You, Sarah: The Woman Who Saved Thanksgiving and a class favorite- The Book with No Pictures! It was so much fun. Parents and grandparents, please email me if you would like to be a mystery reader some time! On Friday, we did some coding with the website, Kodable! The kids had a blast because it is designed as a kid-friendly computer game that is actually building computer programming skills. We will try to use Kodable once a week! Click here to learn more about coding. Fall Festival was so fun! Here is a slideshow of the Pumpkin Run, our spooky costumes, and the class party! Hope everyone had a great Halloween weekend! |
